Finally, writer Damian Shannon and Mark Swift succeeded in providing what New Line was looking for, and Freddy vs. The crossover was able to come together after both franchises became the property of New Line Cinema, but the problem was the studio wasn't happy with the many, many script attempts they commissioned over the course of the next 10 years. While the moment clearly hinted at a long-rumored crossover movie, it would be another decade before Freddy vs. At the end of 1993's Jason Goes to Hell, horror fans of the time were shocked to see Freddy's glove rise up from the ground and drag Jason's hockey mask down to Hell. Jason's standard conclusion sees Jason emerge the clear victor, but its alternate ending works out much better for Freddy Krueger.
